This is a LOW-COST version of the Radio Shack Science Fair 3 transistor Short Wave receiver set.
Three transistor regenerative circuit design. The insert listed the frequency range as 2 - 30 MHz, and the instructions list them as 4.5 - 50 MHz. The tuning range is divided into six bands, by changing an air would coil. The coils are wound around an AA battery as a winding form.
Complete radio kit, same overall circuit design as our deluxe PC board kit. The differences are listed below.
* - Kit utilizes a piece of 7x9 cm (2.75 x 3.5 inch), perfboard for assembly. It will be necessary for you to enlarge holes as necessary.
* - Kit uses a variable polyvaricon tuning capacitor. This is a more reliable part than the original style.
* - Silicon transistors are used in the audio amplifier instead of germanium.
NOTE: Unless you live near a radio station, you will need a long wire (outdoor preferable) antenna, and ground connection.
Kit utilizes carbon film resistors. Powered by one 9-volt battery, not included. Kit comes with ALL parts shown. Includes nylon hardware for board support, which will not scratch surfaces. Complete with dynamic earphone, battery clip and antenna wire. Comes with a copy of the original instructions as scanned jpeg images on a CD-R. Ships by First Class Mail in padded mailer.
