A recreated Japanese navy officer sword.
This design of Japanese officer sword was issued to naval officers of the Japanese Imperial navy. The most prestigious swords were always issued to high ranking navy officials, because the Japanese valued their naval forces over all other sectors of their military.
The best materials were poured into these swords and were worked by the most famous sword makers of Japan at that time period. A true Katana and Japanese war sword.
Although constructed with modern materials, this WW2 Katana is an exact reproduction. The sword looks the same in every way, detail and design, however this modern version is brand new and most notably constructed with a highly refined and deadly 1095 sword blade.
The most valuable part of any sword is its blade, with this 1095 steel sword blade certainly forming a very high quality core of this combat sword.
1095 high carbon steel is one of the highest carbon content steels used for swordsmithing. Arguably the best steel available for Katana sword making, characteristics include a very reliable, hard and sharp battle edge, along with excellent blade elasticity and resilience, which 1095 being technically a higher carbon content spring steel, is renowned for.
Further promoting perfection, is the very difficult process of clay tempering the blade. This process precisely facilitates hardening of the blade's edge, while leaving the blade's core and spine softer and thus resilient. Definitely a marker of advanced Japanese sword making technology and visibly identifiable on this sword's blade.
The beautiful, real stingray-skin wrapped hardwood scabbard and decorative, solid brass sword fittings, complement the brown Katana color scheme very nicely and to the style of the time. And the hardwood, wrapped with genuine stingray-skin & quality cord form a traditional aesthetic and very effective Japanese Samurai handle grip.
This naval officer sword is a visually & historically accurate work of art. It's highly collectable, a pleasure to own and a formidable close quarters weapon of war.
