Amulet Story
Phra Phuttha Maha Mani Rattana Patimakorn or the Emerald Buddha is a sacred Buddha image of Thailand. It is currently enshrined in Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram (or Wat Phra Kaew) in the Grand Palace. Bangkok
The Emerald Buddha is a Buddha image carved from soft nephrite jade, an emerald green color. It is a Buddha image from the pre-Chiang Saen to Chiang Saen style. When Lan Xang moved the capital from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, the Emerald Buddha was invited down as well. Later King Taksin the Great He established Thonburi as the capital. He brought the Emerald Buddha and Phra Bang from the Lan Chang Kingdom of Vientiane (Laos) at that time and enshrined them at Wat Arun Ratchawararam. Later, at the end of his reign His Majesty King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great His Majesty invited the Buddha Maha Mani Rattana Sculpture to be placed on a busabok in the royal barge. His Majesty crossed the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It was enshrined at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram. until now Phra Bang was returned to Luang Prabang (Laos).
