In the 1980s the Monkees reached an entirely new audience when MTV began re-running the TV show. Their cult status remains solid today as critics reassess their music and new fans discover the show. The MONKEES: The Day-by-Day Story of the 60's TV Pop Sensation

by Andrew Sandoval

"Although it took 15 years for this book to finally be released, it was well worth the wait. I've been a Monkees fan for 20 years and have followed their careers ever since. This book is the best thing since Rhino reissued all the albums on CD and released the entire series on home video nearly 30 years ago. Its so great to see that someone finally put time and research into a book on my favorite band. This is the only book to detail recording, filming, air dates for first run and repeat episodes and record releases. Far surpasses previous books on the band, and I have them all. The story of The Monkees is far from over. Hopefully there will be a second volume. After all there was a two part biography on Elvis. The Monkees deserve a lot of respect for their work. Their series was very innovative and funnier then the two Beatles film that inspired it. Their records are great, and they were very talented. If you don't have this book yet get it. It is a must have for any Monkees collection. No Monkees fan will want to be without this great book. It is well worth the price. They were as much a band as any of the groups from the 60's. They weren't the only group to use session musicians on their records. So what if they weren't together for years before they made it. Bottom line they could play their instruments just listen to Rhino's Headquarters, Live 1967, and JUSTUS their 1996 reunion album with Mike Nesmith(Papa Nez). Not even The Beatles played all the instruments on their records."
