This is a listing for a beautiful wooden clipper ship scale model. It is in great condition, nothing broken. It has light scuffs, but overall, it's in great condition.

This scale ship is approx. 21" (L) × 4" (W) × 17" (H), and it's modeled after the BELEM clipper ship, which began its life as a cargo ship transporting sugar from the West Indies as well as cocoa and coffee from Brazil and French Guiana to Nantes in France. The Belem is now over 120 years old, with a history that also includes becoming a private yacht for Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster (who renamed her Fantome II) and even sailing the seven seas under ownership of beer baron Sir Arthur Ernest Guinness.

The Belem escaped the eruption of Mount Pelée in Saint-Pierre, Martinique, on 8 May 1902. On arriving at Saint Pierre ahead of the eruption, Captain Julien Chauvelon found that roadsteads were full of vessels. With no place to anchor the ship, Chauvelon angrily decided to anchor some miles further away off a beach, which provided shelter when the volcano erupted.
