Graeme’s version of a Balrog, much closer to the description in the book than the film one. Read the passage carefully and you will see that-

1) It was not on fire. The flames were coming from the torches held by the orcs behind it.

2) It was not a flaming sword, but a curvy bladed scimitar.

3) It was not a flaming whip but a whip of many thongs, ie. a cat of nine tales. However the flames looked good on film.

This limited edition sold out quickly and the only place you are likely to find one now is probably on ebay. Expect to pay in excess of $4500.

Vividly captured in all its menacing glory, the Balrog looms over Gandalf, wielding a sword and deadly whip. Gandalf stands firm on the Bridge of Khazad-dum, brandishing his sword, Glamdring, in defiance. The Bridge forms the base of the sculpture and is cleverly crafted to portray its slender structure, without any rail or kerb.

Classic scene from Tolkien's The Lord of The Rings. This sculpture is a strictly limited edition of only 500 worldwide and is now sold out.

Sculpted by Dr Graeme Anthony, the collection is officially licensed by Middle-earth Enterprises, a division of the Saul Zaentz Company.
