For sale is this lovely Victorian book "The Lady Of The Lake" By Walter Scott

This is the Authors edition which is very rare

It was printed by Adam & Charles Black Edinburgh in 1869

It has a Tartan Mauchline ware cover in Stuart tartan

With an oval shaped picture of Scott and 4 mother of pearl studs in each corner

Back cover an oval shaped picture of Scotts Monument with 3 other of pearl studs (one missing)

In very good condition as you can see

The cover is clean and intact and doesn't look its age. The gilt edged pages are still bright

Red leather spine decorated in gilt

Illustrated throughout and with 63 engravings covered by tissue which is discoloured

The 375 pages have foxing and discolouration but its still good for a book nearly 150 years old

There is a message in ink on the first page which reads

27 Oct 1968

Birthday present from Aunt Jean to George G G?
