DATING TO THE VICTORIAN 19TH CENTURY
FASHIONED OF A BEAUTIFUL GRAPE COLORED SILK VELVET WITH A LACE FRONT INSERTION WITH LACE CUFFS.
SLEEVES ARE RUCHED AND THE ENTIRE FRONT BODICE IS TRIMMED IN STITCH DETAIL THAT TRAVELS OVER THE SHOULDERS AND ALONG THE CUFFS. THE BACK BODICE IS TRIMMED IN THE PIPING THAT ENCIRCLES FROM AROUND THE FRONT.
EACH SIDE OF THE FRONT IS TRIMMED WITH FOUR VELVET COVERED BUTTONS AT EACH SIDE OF THE PIPED DETAIL.
CLOSES WITH HOOK AND EYES AND LINED ON THE INTEROIR. THE LACE IS LINED WITH A MOIRE BACKING ON THE COLLAR. BODICE IS BONED IN THE INTERIOR.
CONDITION: ONE OF THE BUTTONS IS LOOSE ON ONE SIDE AND NEEDS A SIMPLE STITCH. THE MOIRE LINING OF THE LACE COLLAR IS WEAK AND EASY TO REMOVE. THE LACE COLLAR SHOWS SLIGHT AGE COLOR AND A COUPLE OF BRIDE BREAKS. THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE BODICE PROBABLY HAD A BELT AT ONE TIME AND ONLY THE BODICE LINING SHOWS NOW…THERE ARE SLIGHT PIECES OF WORN AWAY SILK SEEN.
EXCELLENT, STRONG WEARABLE CONDITION. LOVELY STITCHED DETAIL IN SUCH A STRIKING COLOR.
