This is an interesting and attractive tin with a lid printed with John Tenniel illustrations from Lewis Carroll's 'Alice through the Looking Glass', including the Red and White Knights, the Red Queen and White King, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and Humpty Dumpty. This is a vintage replica of original tin made in 1892


The original tin was made by Barringer Wallis & Manners in 1892, with Lewis Carroll's initial approval and was filled with Jacob's biscuits.. Any remaining original tins are now in museums, V&A, Brighton Toy Museum. 

Condition is very good, with intact colours and graphics, and a well fitting pull-off lid and clean interior. There is some minor wear or surface marks.
