ORIGINAL PASTEL ART by PATRICIA HEDRICK

ARTWORK: 13" x 31"
FRAME: 18 1/2" x 38 3/8"
WHITE BORDER: 2 1/8" top/bottom + 2 7/8" left/right side

Also included is the newspaper article that shows this piece of art as part of a gallery profile in the local newspaper.

This is not matted (the art sits on top of the background to show 100% of the art)
It is framed and signed.

History: This image is of a famous "Santa Claus" who used to adorn a rooftop spot in Summerland, California along the 101 on Santa Claus Lane. When the building he resided on was purchased, after many attempts to save Santa for historical reasons, this Santa Claus was removed. He was a wonderful example of Roadside American Art for many many years.

Santa Claus found a new home further south on the 101 Highway in Oxnard, CA outside a trailer park. This pastel shows him in his new location and the pieces is aptly named, "SANTA IN EXILE" — as a way to pay homage to this beloved scene and roadside art.

Truly a special piece of both Americana but also Roadside America from an artist whose works are collected by many. This subject matter and piece of art is unique to Patrica Hedrick's typical style...making it all the more collectable.

Note: On the back of the frame there is a small tear in the kraft paper that covers the back (see picture). This is at the inside edge and will be taped with clear packing tape (unless you request otherwise) before it ships to prevent further tears. It in no way affects the piece or the frame as it's not visible but I want to mention it. This was original to the piece when I purchased it, likely incurred during handling at the gallery.
