Offered is a brand new, upgraded and updated, Garmin GPS, configured specifically for the Velodyne VLP-32c.

The only Garmin models that can be configured for use with Velodyne Lidars, are the 010-00321-36 1Hz and the 010-00321-37 5Hz.  Neither of these will work, straight out of the box, for any of the Velodyne Lidar though.  They require a custom a configuration file to be uploaded to the GPS puck.

You used to be able to order these Garmin GPS units directly from Velodyne (P/N 80-GPS18LVC), which had their custom file loaded... but they don't offer them for sale any more.  Note: Garmin isn't the only GPS that will work. But, regardless of the unit, the config has to mirror Velodyne's requirements (found in the user manual) in order for it to work.

What's upgraded...

To begin, the GPS Firmware is updated to the most current version (4.4.0.0).  Following, a configuration file, written specifically to be optimized for the 18xLVC and the VLP-32c together (vs. the original generic Velodyne config) is uploaded (optimized file has been written by me, btw). The unit is then tested live, on a spinning VLP-32c.

Following the unit's updates, the plug end of the cord is upgraded to prevent future failure of the DuPont plug (common). Marine grade shrink tubing is used, which has a glue inner lining that melts and cures, to help with strength.  Lastly, a microfiber bag is added to give the GPS unit an actual home (knowing that the box is cardboard and cumbersome).

These GPS units work really well.  Here are a few more details on why:

This unit will be will be thoughtfully packaged by an industry professional (me).  It will then be shipped promptly, from the USA, on the same day that payment is received.  International buyers are also welcomed.
