Antique 19th century French School charcoal drawing on paper. Academic study, student work, life drawing full length portrait of a muscular nude male in a seated pose. Unsigned. Measures 23 3/4" x 17 3/4". Unframed. In overall good antique condition for age and type, rough deckle edge. Some small tears along the edge, there is a 5/8" tear in the right hand. Folded over the right corner. Drawing from live models was part of academic 19th-century art training, still to this day, as well as a way that artists typically made preparatory studies for paintings.
