Antique 18th / 19th century hand carved Walnut wall hanging bevelled edge mirror

Superbly carved in high relief depicting the column statue of St. Theodore in St. Mark's square, Venice, along with a  Dogue hat (representing the Dogue Palace). The Lion of St. Marco, Venice sits beneath the mirror.
The frame is also ornately decorated with a number of finely carved doves and foliage.

In overall good antique used condition. There are some losses, mainly to parts of the doves and the top of the statue, along with a split at the bottom of the frame as can be seen in the photo. The frame and mirror are still held firm and solid.
The mirror has some age related foxing but is still bright and fine to use.

There is a wooden panel at the back along with a cord for wall hanging. It could be also used as an over mantle mirror.

An absolutely stunning piece, superbly and expertly carved in fantastic detail. It would make a real statement in any home and would enhance the decor of any room.
