Produced from a lovely, soft leather with  a lightly textured, matt finish, the Dr Martens Lauren boots are an unusual addition to our range of mid calf boots from Dr Martens. The Wyoming leather that these womens boots are made from has a deliberately burnished appearance which is key to the boots design inspiration; Tank Drivers! Yes, you read that right. Tank Driver's boots. Allow us to explain...

The Dr Martens Lauren boot is unusual because it does not feature any laces, eyelets, zips or velcro to fasten up. Instead there are two buckled straps; the first secured the top of the foot while the second wraps around the calf. The tongue of the boot is flanked by a baffle each side to prevent water and debris getting into the boot, with the tongue itself being attached to the underside of one of these baffles.

...so what does this have to do with Tank Drivers, you ask? The boots worn by tank drivers (back in the day) did not feature laces because apparently laces would burn, so they used leather straps instead. Thus the design inspiration for the Dr Martens Lauren boot is somewhat rugged, burnished, tough and military looking.

Finishing the Lauren boot perfectly is Dr Martens AirWair Bouncing sole with a deeply cleated tread pattern for excellent grip even in wet conditions. Also it is resistant to oil, fat, acid, alkali, and petrol.
