Antique French Empire Gilt Bronze Hercules Mantle Clock c.1800 

This is an excellent French Empire mercury gilded bronze mantle clock, circa 1800. With the figure of Hercules leaning on a tree stump supporting his club wearing a robe with the face of the Namean lion. The dial is engine turned with an enamel chapter ring. The base is decorated with a frieze of the attributes of Hercules, the face of the lion, a club, quiver of arrows, strung bow & braches of Oak leaves. The movement runs intermittantly but the clock will need a service to work efficiently, with key & bob pendulum.

CONDITION some wear to the gilding but in beautiful condition overall - as per images

The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
