You are bidding on one large bundle of pharmacy documents from 1902-04.

Concerns the granting of a concession to establish one 5. Pharmacy in Hof at Herman Witzgall (*9. May 1857 in Thurnau), assistant at the pharmacy in Orb.

"The new pharmacy is to be built in the so-called Bahnhofviertel zu Hof, specifically on Moltkestrasse or the parts of the same to the east of this street."

Hermann Witzgall named the pharmacy "Bahnhof-Apotheke".

These are mostly hectographed manuscripts, since these letters went to several applicants; only the four letters from the city magistrate of Hof are original manuscripts (three of them are signed by the mayors of Hof).

In the first procedure in 1902, all applications are rejected (from Theodor Lang, Oskar fuchs , Gottfried Riemhofer and Georg Weinzierl, all in Munich, as well as from Christian Endres in Leipzig, Georg Ruhm in Windsheim, August Münch in Steinbach, Hermann Witzgall in Orb, Ferdinand Deubert in Markt Bibart, August Bente in Immenstadt, Eduard Alzheimer in Stuttgart (a brother of the psychiatrist Alois Alzheimer, after whom Alzheimer's disease was named!), Franz Schumm in Pirmasens, Karl Schmitt in Holzkirchen, Otto Weber in Neustadt aL, Karl Trautmann in Mannheim and Leonhard Rüger in Alzing-Bad Adolholzen), since the construction of a fifth pharmacy was not considered necessary.

In the second procedure in 1903 (after a complaint from five applicants), the concession was awarded to the appr. Pharmacist Hermann Witzgall in Orb, who has to build the pharmacy in the station district in or west of Moltkestraße.

From an estate of the appr. Pharmacists Georg Weinzierl, administrator of the Schwanen pharmacy in Munich, one of the applicants who lost in both procedures.
