IRON MAN # 8

Marvel Comics 1968

vs. The Gladiator / Count Nefaria App / Origin of Big M (Whitney Frost) / Archie Goodwin Story / George Tuska & Johnny Craig Art / George Tuska Cover / Cents with T&P Stamp

Grade & Condition Notes. A very lovely looking Flat, Bright, Very Glossy & Solid copy of this excellent early Iron Man Issue with a superb Gladiator cover. The book has a very bright shiny F/C with superb eye appeal & nice deep rich inks & colours. Internally the pages are a nice supple off-white to white. The main body of the f/c is smooth & clean & free from any major wear. Not much in terms of wear on this copy although there are some minor imperfections at some edges namely at the top from a little cover overhang. The spine is nice & solid with just some minor stress points present & a few mm breaks of colour right on the edge. A very feint non colour break impression line bottom r/h edge & there is a small arrival date in biro in the logo box. Back cover again is mostly smooth & clean with just a few odd small handling impressions in a few areas including a light impression top margin but on the whole a sweet little book with exceptional eye appeal. Grade wise this was bought as a FN/VF (7.0) from an excellent dealer at a UK Comic mart & i agreed at the time & not much to dissuade me from that even now, maybe FN+ (6.5) at worse but please have a look at the photos & try to make that estimation yourself if you can. Use the zoom function to get as up close & personal as you can to see if you agree. Postage discounts apply for multiple purchases but please wait for invoice if you take advantage of this.

Postage: £3.50 via Royal Mail 48 UK Only. This price includes the cost of professional mailers which aren't cheap sadly (around 70p each) International Buyers please note the charges are set by the global shipping programme, this can be very pricey but does include taxes, Tracking & import charges but if you are unsure about how much this well cost please check the prices before you bid using the price calculator. Please don't bid & then ask as it will be too late by then & i will expect you to honour the bid. Any doubts contact me.

Please note that my best days for posting are Mondays but i will endeavour to get your books out to you as soon as i can after payment is made. I expect payments to be fulfilled within 2 days of the auction ending, you bid on the item so why wait?

All books will be packed exceptionally well so there will be no issues with corner bends etc because of insufficient cardboard, have a look at my feedback for comments on this, no need to send little notes explaining to me how to pack a book, i've been at this for years & have lots of experience but if it makes you feel better feel free but you really don't have anything to worry about i treat a £5 book the same way i treat a £50 one. I'm a collector remember! 1-2 Books if under a certain value will be sent in industry standard professional Mailers. For more than 3 comics i have been using for years my own made up parcels which are bomb proof, not a single damaged comic in the mail.. ever! this is also used for more valuable books for piece of mind for me & you!

Returns: Books can be returned only if their is a major fault not mentioned in the item description or seen in the scans or photos. Major is defined as things like large internal tears, Highly visible creases that did not show up in photo that are of a size that significantly detracts from the overall look of the book. This is just a few of the reasons, their can be others. When i list a book i give it a grade (i have been grading books for 30+ years & i also keep the original grade of the book when i bought it marked in my list) on top of this i go through the whole comic & list all faults that are significant enough to make a difference to the overall eye appeal & reduce the grade although this is not always possible for comics of VG+ (4.5) & below so please read the OVERSTREET GUIDELINES for grades as this is what is industry standard for grading (see below). Also i will upload photos & can also send you more if in doubt about anything so feel free to ask questions or request more if required. I Doubt you will need to do this as i am as thorough as anyone i've seen on ebay but if it's an expensive book i understand that if you have doubts these should be put to rest. I am happy and always willing to help out wherever i can. Please note books can not be returned because of a Grade disagreement, you have all the information & pictures you require to consider weather or not you agree with my approximations on this so have a real good read & look before you bid & always ask if your unsure about anything, i am always here to help.

Notes on Grading: Please remember the way Overstreet lay out their grading is a basic 10 scale method so 1 is pretty bad & 10 is flawless. However it can get tricky in the middle as terms like VG or Fine might make a layman think that the book is without problems, this is very much not the case. A VG grade for example is what is defined as an average comic book, well read with probable creasing, marks, possible small tears but still attached & complete, you can also find books that appear High Grade are not because of one or more significant problems maybe a tear or a larger crease that is discrete but still effects the overall grade, Gems can be found this way if your not that bothered about things like this. A FN is the bridge grade between the lower & higher grades meaning it has significant eye appeal but can still have it's problems. The way to approach this is usually reading the Grade terms in the Overstreet Guide & also your experience (Don't use your average seller on Ebay as a source, use credible Dealers & Well known shops, Lots of good ones in the USA) Also if you do use them have a look at CGC. I have been slabbing books with them for many years so i have a fair assumption of what a books grade is going to be just through the grades i have been given over the years. It is very difficult to get a true High Grade so you will never see me give any of my unslabbed issues grades of 9.4 or above as you really need a microscope to do this & nobody on here should be doing this, i'm even reluctant to give a 9.2 so you won't see me selling many issues at this grade even if i'm pretty sure it is as it is always best to manage people's expectations as far as grades go. It's not rocket science but it is definitly something that can cause problems especially if you are not familiar with what & what isn't allowed within a specific grade term. However as a side note, pictures rarely lie & i also note any major faults with books especially if they do not show up well on a scan or picture. Again always do your research. Some of my more valuable books if i am really unsure i will always ask my dealer friends for 2nd opinions & sometimes it may end up being 0.5 either way but i am rarely out by much if any as i've been doing this so long. I want you to return time & again so i am doing my best to give you the best experience possible. Please note though that i cannot nor can anyone guarantee you an unslabbed book is a certain grade, only CGC can do this as there may be things on an issue impossible to spot with the naked eye so if you really want a book in a certain grade type you need to buy them slabbed. if you have any questions regarding any of this i would be more than happy to answer them, just mail me & i will get back to you as soon as i can. Thanks for Reading.

Thank you for looking, Good luck with your Hunting & Collecting.
