THE ODDLY MASHED UP REMAINS OF A LEPIDOTES PRESERVED AS A 'MOUND' IN A NATURALLY SCULPTED LARGE SLAB

WEALDEN DINOSAUR AGE, MASHED UP FOSSIL FISH - BARYONYX CHEWED UP FOOD REMNANT????

This is an odd one. It's a mashed up fossil of a Mesozoic fish called Lepidotes. Lepidotes formed part of the diet of Baryonyx, we know this because Lep scales were found in a Baryonyx skeleton's stomach region. Could this be the remains of a Baryonyx chewed on and spat out or lost after a few bites, dinner? Actually, it's not that far fetched at all, as I have often pondered the possibility that some of these pieces of half fossilised fish we find, at least some, might be the left overs of Baryonyx or another large animal, very most probably. For scale see centimetre ruler.

Self collected fossil. Entirely self-funded researcher. I have a genuine passion for fossils and am a life-long advocate of responsible collecting, my palaeo work is testament to this. My main interest is fossils related to the English Wealden. Discovering fossils and presenting my discoveries to the general public is my vocation.
I am a avocational collector running an entirely self-funded private enterprise. Find frequency is low. Fact: It is notoriously difficult to find fossils at this locality. Any commercial operator would go bust in a couple of months!

Revenue raised from this discovery will allow me to continue working on other research projects. For example, British dinosaur age amber is something I am currently working on. A preliminary search of this amber lead me to discover the world‘s oldest preserved spiders web, dated at around 140 million years old. Discovery of the spiders web in amber was reported in the global media. But this ancient amber has the potential to reveal a vast eco-system of new species including micro-organisms, plants and small animals - insects mostly. However, this will take time and requires proper funding. Being entirely self-funded, offering fossils like this allows me to focus on my studies and continue my passion on a proper full time basis.
