Farfugium giganteum | Plug Plant | Perennial

Introducing the Farfugium giganteum Plug Plant, a versatile and enchanting addition to any garden. This perennial beauty, also known as Farfugium japonicum 'Giganteum' or Ligularia tussilaginea, boasts large, lush, evergreen leaves that originate from Japan. Supplied as a plug plant With its distinct deep green color and rounded kidney-shaped leaves, often reaching a diameter of 30cm or more, the Farfugium giganteum forms tight, neat clumps. Adding to its allure, clusters of daisy-like orange-yellow flowers grace this plant in late summer. A perfect choice for those seeking an exotic touch, the Farfugium giganteum thrives in dappled shade, making it an excellent ground cover amongst palms, bamboos, and tree ferns. Its adaptability also makes it ideal for contemporary plantings against rendered walls in urban courtyards and roof gardens. This easy-to-grow plant flourishes best in fertile, moisture-retentive soil, tolerating various light conditions ranging from full sun to dappled shade. Its natural inclination to grow on the banks of streams and ditches in Japan makes it a suitable choice for a variety of environments. Low maintenance by nature, the Farfugium giganteum can benefit from occasional top dressings of fertilizer and a yearly mulch of quality compost during autumn or winter. As an evergreen, late spring pruning is recommended to tidy up any winter-damaged leaves. For those residing in colder regions of the U.K, adding a protective layer such as straw mulch on top of the leaves can shield the plant from severe weather conditions, including snow, ensuring its longevity..

Plant info. We supply 100s of different species annually, and we try and keep the listings up to date however the plant may be supplied not in growth (dormant plant) depending on the time of year, more common in the winter months. Most are not supplied in flower, as most of the listing photos are only an illustration of what the plant will grow into and may not represent the size of the plant you are buying currency. You can request an example of what the plants look like currently, but we are not able to select the exact plants that you will receive. Images are for illustrative purposes only. The actual product may vary in appearance and size due to seasonal availability.
Packaging, Dispatch times & Plant condition. Plants are always tricky to post, we use shrink wrap soon to be biodegradable around the pots and growing media to secure it in place. This is then wrapped in cardboard, placed into a box which is then packed with newspaper, and finally boxed ready for shipping. We use Royal Mail for small UK-bound parcels and for larger DPD. Cut off is 7 am daily. We try to put as much detail on the item in the listing, but as you will know plants change state as they grow, for example a herbaceous perennial will die back in winter and reshoot in the spring meaning they vary in height throughout the year, because of this we go by the plant's pot size when giving the identification of size and not plant height. If you want to know what stage of growth the plant is in and want an up-to-date photo please message us. Some items may be very tall e.g. 2L Hedychium, although we will try not to, we may cut the plant back prior to shipping if we do all plants will recover in no time at all. If you want to check to see if yours will be reduced before shipment please message us. We do not advise you to eat any of our ornamental plant range.
Plant Guarantee Every plant we send comes with a 30 day guarantee that starts from the sale date. If your plant dies within the first 30 days we will replace or refund the plant for you. If a replacement is selected it will not covered by a 30 day guarantee, only the first plant. For dormant plants (e.g. bulbs, potted rootstocks or no active growth) the guarantee is extended to 90 days from the sale date.
