An impressive Italian gilt bronze inkwell with a large repoussé gilt round base decorated with winged cherubs, eagles and acanthus leaf scrolls. A faceted crystal inkwell sits in the centre which has a gilt bronze lid with a stag finial.

Marked on the underside for Howell James & Co, London - a retailer in London on Regent street that operated between 1819 & 1911.
