Impressive and beautifully potted Japanese Onta-yaki jar from a remote mountain village in Ōita Prefecture. Featuring a characteristic incised decoration and gorgeous amber-brown glaze. Stamped 小鹿田焼 'Onta ware' - pieces are never signed by an individual but only with the sign of the Onta village. This is to signify that the production of a single vessel was the combined work of the community, not just one person.

In great vintage condition without damage.
