DESCRIPTION - A good quality early 20th century print taken from the drawings by the artist Arthur Rackham (1867–1939) for Richard Wagner's four German-language epic music dramas The Ring Cycle (Der Ring des Nibelungen). Published in 1910.
The Ring Cycle is based on Norse Mythology, the same stuff J.R.R. Tolkein drew from to write his epic Lord of the Rings. And the idea is similar. There is gold out there, which has been shaped into a ring. It wields total power over the world.
The plot revolves around a magic ring that grants the power to rule the world, forged by the dwarf Alberich from gold he stole from the Rhinemaidens in the river Rhine. Several mythic figures struggle for possession of the Ring, including Wotan (Odin), the chief of the gods.
Professionally framed and glazed in a good quality double mount and light mahogany coloured wooden frame.
APPROX SIZE of visible image 6.5" x 5" and 15.5" x 10.5" including mount and frame.
CONDITION - In very good condition for age with no foxing, fading or watermarks to print . With some light surface marks to frame consistent with age and use but generally in good condition - please see photos to satisfy yourself as to condition as they form part of the description. I do my best to describe all faults but am not infallible so please do not make a purchase unless you are totally happy regarding the condition. .
Most of the paintings and prints that I source are antique or vintage and as such are not in perfect condition and may need some attention to frames, glass, mounts, fixings etc. However, I do try to be totally honest and bring any flaws and faults to your attention if present.
