1975 Suzuki TS125 trail bike. Riding around on this I was surprised how many people my age (60) had it as their first bike - and the level of affection that it generated.

This bike is in an unrestored and very original condition, all the way down to the motor-accesory-shop sticky numbers on the registration plate. I have an identical model (yes, my first bike - I kept it all the way from 1980) so bought this in 2005 to use as a spares inventory, but it seemed too complete to break, so actually used it while I rebuilt mine.

Work done: I had it rebored and new piston and rings about 420 miles ago - I set the trp counter when I did it -  and couldn't feel any big or little end wear. It runs very well for its age and as a 125 - 55 MPH on the flat, 60+ on a mild incline as I've oversized the rear tyre a tad, so top gear might be a little high. As I recall, top was usually a 'downhill' gear.

Two new tyres, new brake pads, new chain, new wheel bearings. The (very useful) luggage rack is a US accessory. The seat has been reupholstered.

Other non standard or replaced parts are the speedometer, which is non standard but still Suzuki, the handlebars which are Renthal, the ignition switch and that's about it. Various other bits and bobs replaced where necessary.

As you might expect, there is surface corrosion on the chrome and patches of rust here and there, but nothing to cause any issues. Personally I think it would be a great shame to restore as it's a bike with a real personality, and original patina bikes are becoming rarer and rarer. The tank you will notice, had a dent put in it at some point and was crudely sprayed to stop it rusting.

How does it ride? Not bad for a 125cc, and so long as you remember it's a 2-stroke and you need to keep the revs up, you can do okay on and off road, but do remember it's a trail not a trial, and it has a road level of rake and first gear is not that low. But as I said, keep the revs up and it can go up most things you might find on a leisurely green lane.

It's over 40 years old, or course, so MOT and tax free. 6 volt, so not great at night.
