Up for sale I have a very rare and early Left Handed Gibson Sg/Les Paul Special in Polaris White finish. I purchased this guitar about 12 years ago and it came with a broken headstock and not much binding left around the fret board, frets were shaved down with who knows what, the pick guard was missing, bridge was missing and no case. Serial # 41487 first year build in 1961 at the Kalamazoo factory.

So, the process on bringing this back to life was by starting with the headstock repair and refinish the damaged face of the headstock. I didn't wanted to lose the original Polaris Finish so it got primed by air-brushing the spots and prepped for a possible refinish in the future but, because of it's rarity I decided to leave as is. Also someone had removed bits of the finish at the heel, behind the bridge, around the fretboard and the back of the headstock. I used NOS Gibson binding material around the board and re-fretted the guitar with Jescar Medium frets. The neck is pretty slim and easy to play all around. The Beautiful Brazilian Rosewood fret board that's been leveled as it had some dents all over it. The P90 pickups sound great, wiring is all intact and no noisy pots so, the pickguard was custom made and I aged it to match the vibes of the guitar. The bridge and tuners are vintage as one side was missing and also the ferrules were gone and so this was all matched with correct era parts. It has repaired cracks around the control cavity and these are stable, also the guitar has been strung and played for about 9 years with gauge 11 and I never had tuning issues or signs that the headstock was giving out again. Yes it's a player guitar and it shows a lot of battle scars but, I don't think there's an earlier Lefty Polaris White SG to be found and this makes it pretty darn rare!

Why am I selling this?!

Unfortunately I never connected with the guitar and I hate selling it but, it deserves to get played and not sit inside a case and you might find one in better condition for over 10K but it will be a cherry one for sure. This is your chance to get a ragged White one like Pete Townsend!

Please don't ask for trades as I'm not interested at this time.

Thanks.
