They bid on two handwritten receipts from 1623 and 1624 out of Stadthagen.


Jost Bucken, citizen of Stadthagen (the Merchant Jost von Bucken, one of which is still there todayHouse inscription at Niedernstraße 49 in Stadthagen exists), acknowledges each Reception of 80 Reichstalers as annual interest (for the years 1623 and 1624) on the capital of 1,600 Reichstalers that he Ottrabe von Landsberg (1566-1632) had borrowed.


Ottrab / Ottrabe von Landsberg, born on the 4th April 1566 in Wormsthal as the son of Christoph von Landsberg (1518-1600) and Frecke Adelheid, née. von Klencke (d. 1602), was Drost zu Ottenstein and Heir to Wormstal, Stadthagen and Wunstorf.


Written by hand (“Jost bucken min handt”).


Description of contents by another hand on the reverse, certainly by Ottrabe von Landsberg; there with the spelling “Jobst”.


About the author: The merchant Jost von Bucken built a house at Niedernstrasse 49 in Stadthagen in 1618 and died at the age of 70 after the start of the Thirty Years' War. The house became the property of his daughter Katharina; she is still documented as the owner in 1638. The inscription can still be read in the still existing half-timbered house: "IOST OF BVCKEN // MY BEGINNING VNT END BEVELE I GOT INTO HIS HANDS // GOD KNOWS WEN OF ALL PEOPLE HVLLFE HAS AN END. // ANNO DOMMINI 1618." The receipt from 1623 is dated at the end ("Actum Stadthagen 1623"); In the document from 1624 it is mentioned in the text that the interest was paid for the year 1624 ("eighty thousand Reichsthaller interest from these six ten hundred and ten verre and twintin years").
