This is a classic monorail view camera, made by Cambo in the Netherlands. I have not tested it with film. The general cosmetic and functional condition appears to be excellent. Specifics:
- The controls, including the adjustments of the lens standards along the rail, all work smoothly.
- The glass and coating of the lens appear to be in excellent condition: no scratches, cleaning marks, fog, mold, or fungus. The lens is a "Calumet" Caltar-S II. From online research, it appears this is a Schneider Symmar-S rebranded for Cambo.
- The black paint inside the lens on an inner bezel has deteriorated to the point of showing specs of the metal below (see photo 3). This is not a surface that would be accessed in normal use, but I don't see any sign that the lens has been disassembled.
- The shutter is a Copal No. 0, 1 to 1/500th second, B & T. From listening to it, I would say it is working well over the full range of speeds. Like most all leaf shutters, the true high speeds are probably slower than marked.
- I checked the bellows carefully in a dark room with an LED flashlight and did not find any pinholes.
- The rail is about 21" long. This correlates to the Cambo spec of 54cm.
- I cleaned the ground glass with soap and water (after removing it from the back standard) and inadvertently washed off most of the inked-on grid ruling (see photo 9). The remainder could easily be removed in the same way, or a handy person could draw replacement lines with a fine marker.
- There is a noticeable area of wear in the silver paint above the ground glass (see top of photo 9).
- There is one "Cambo" name-disk missing on one of the adjustment knobs (see photo 4).
- There is some scratching on the tilt-angle scale on the lens standard (see photo 8).
We will pack it disassembled (see photo 10) using a large, strong shipping box, with bubble wrap on each part.
