Pochi sanno che Neil Gaiman ha mosso i suoi primi passi professionali su una rivista inglese per adulti nata come clone britannico di Playboy.

Neil Gaiman ha iniziato la sua carriera su queste pagine, spacciandosi per giornalista freelance (in realtà lo scrittore non aveva mai pubblicato nulla fino a quel momento) La collaborazione è iniziata a partire dal 1984 fino alla fine del decennio, quando la rivista cambiò linea editoriale trasformandosi in una rivista maschile più tradizionale. I contributi di Neil Gaiman iniziarono con una serie di interviste a celebrità dello spettacolo e della cultura, e successivamente con articoli umoristici scritti insieme a Kim Newman, oltre a numerose recensione letterarie non firmate. Ma soprattutto la pubblicazione ha avuto il merito aver ospitato i primissimi racconti dell’autore di Sandman.
