DATING TO THE THE 1940’S
FASHIONED OF A PALE YELLOW TAFFETA SWISS WAIST TOP THAT IS TRIMMED IN SILK BRAID WITH ATTACHED CORDING CRISS CROSSING IN LACING STYLE IN THE FRONT.
TOP EDGE IS PIPED. THE SKIRTING IS IN A DARKER YELLOW TAFFETA THAT HAS BEAUTIFUL MACHINE EMBROIDERED APPLIQUE WORK THROUGHOUT OF FLORALS WITH MULTI COLOR EMBROIDERED CENTERS THAT DIFFER THROUGHOUT.
THE FRONT IS IN APRON STYLE WITH EMBROIDERED SCALLOPED EDGES AND SILK BRAID TRIMMING DIAGONAL THROUGH. BOTTOM SKIRTING IS TRIMMED IN SILK BRAIDS WITH A WIDE TAFFETA STRIPE AND THE INTERIOR IS LINED IN AN ATTACHED MUSLIN CRINOLINE WITH NET RUFFLES WITH THICK CORDING ALONG THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE OUTER RUFFLE.
SEAM IS PIPED ON THE TOP. HOOK AND EYES CLOSE THE REAR. THERE IS A LABEL ON THE INTERIOR THAT READS SUMMERS. I AM NOT CERTAIN WHERE THIS COSTUME IS FROM OR WHAT PRODUCTION.
PICTURED WITH AN ADDITIONAL CRINOLINE BUT COULD HAVE MORE VOLUME WITH ANOTHER CRINOLINE BENEATH.
CONDITION: THERE IS A FINGERTIP SIZED HOLE WITH A PINHEAD HOLE JUST ASIDE THE POINT OF THE APRON ON THE LEFT SIDE WITH AN OPEN SEAM JUST BENEATH THE SWISS WAIST ON THE LEFT SIDE. SEVERAL SMALL HOLES ARE ON THE MIDDLE RIGHT SIDE SWISS WAIST. A FINGERTIP INK STAIN IS ON THE WHITE COTTON BETWEEN THE STRIPING ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT SIDE.
THERE ARE SEVERAL TINY PINPOINT FLAWS TO THE SKIRTING WHEN STUDED WITH A SMALL CIRCLE OF EMBROIDERY MISSING FROM ONE FLOWER ON THE REAR. THE INNER NET RUFFLE HAS SOME SMALL POINT HOLES BUT ARE NOT SEEN WHEN WORN.
A VERY SWEET WEARABLE VINTAGE COSTUME.
