About the Bruggisser family of entrepreneurs (source: Historical Encyclopedia of Switzerland):

entrepreneurial family from Wohlen (AG), first ext. 1576/77. The rise of the B., who originally worked as farmers and craftsmen, to the upper class began with Martin (1773-1852). In 1812 he founded the straw mesh trading company Wohler & Isler with partners, joined a joint company in 1839, which was replaced in 1840 by a partnership agreement between the companies Jacob Isler & Co. and Martin Bruggisser & Co. The latter (1854 branch in Florence) was founded in 1907 converted into a public limited company, but remained in the possession of Martin's descendants until the company was closed in 1973.
