Note - Plane Sizes - Hollow & Rounds

Old hollow & round plane makers used differing standards to size their planes. Some used a numbering system that more or less followed a set numbering standard across 60 degrees of an arc, others used a numbering system of their own choosing, whilst others still marked their planes based on the cutter size.

In addition, even within same makers, it has been observed that the sizing standards changed over different periods of time.

If you are looking to match up a hollow or round, or complete a set, it is important to understand which numbering system a particular maker was using at the time.

If attempting to make up a harlequin set, then using the cutter size will serve well as a guide.

The cutter size and image is included in the description as this is the best way to ensure you are purchasing the size required.
