You bid two letters of the philologist Hans Zemke (1898-1940), addressed to his wife Charlotte Zemke, b. Kroeger.

The first letter (2 p. in format 27.8 x 21.8 cm) written by the Cure in Todtmoos (dated 14. October 1932), addressed to his wife in Berlin, Fruchtstrasse 55.

At first thanks for the suitcase sent and in detail about his illness (bronchial, tuberculosis), from which he will be cured "with high probability" by Christmas.

The second letter (2 A4 pages) written in Berlin-Lichterfelde (extended Wilhelmstr. 28), addressed to his wife, who is staying with relatives (Mr. H. Kröger) in Husum for a cure. Dated 25.6., the year on the postmark is hard to read, but it seems1937 (this would also match the sender address in terms of time).

Each with envelope; the first with a postmark from Wehr (Baden), the second with a railway postmark (Berlin-Hamburg, train 198).

About the author: Hans Wilhelm Otto Zemke was born on 24. September 1898 in Rixdorf (Berlin-Neukölln) as the son of the Lycial director/rector Wilhelm Karl August Zemke and the Martha Mathilde Auguste, b. Kroll born. on the 5th On April 1, 1929, he married the gym teacher Margarete in Berlin-Lankwitz Charlotte Kroeger, born on the 8th May 1904 in Berlin as the daughter of the teacher LorenzMark Kröger and Margarethe, b. tomsen At the time of the marriage he was a "candidate in philosophy"; in the Berlin address book of 1932 he is listed as a study assessor (Fruchtstraße 55), in 1937 philologist Dr. Hans Zemke (extended Wilhelmstr. 28, Berlin-Lichterfelde). He died on the 15th. April 1940 as a doctor of philosophy and scientific assistant in Berlin-Lichterfelde with pulmonary tuberculosis.
