Here is a vintage Gibson SB-400 electric bass.  Made in the USA in 1972.  SG shape body.  34" Long scale. Walnut finish. 2- Single coil pickups, 2- pickup switches, Master Volume and tone controls.   Comes with original Lifton hard case.

This bass is being sold "As is". It is listed as such.  Upon setting up this bass, when the truss rod was adjusted, the nut and rod has snapped.   You can see from the photos that the truss rod nut is missing.  The rod is still in tact but is inside the channel.  This bass is perfect for the luthier, tinkerer, reseller etc..   Perfect project instrument.

The electronics work and the tuning machines feel great.  The original nylon saddles are long gone and the bridge has ben fitted with modern steel saddles.  Everything else besides the saddles and strings are original to the bass.  The truss rod cover is included as well as one screw. The cover is cracked.  The case is in very good shape with all latches and hinges working perfectly.  Even the case key is included.  The bass has nicks, marks, scuffs, indents. etc... Normal wear and tear for a 55 year old bass.

If you can fix this bass, then you will have a pretty nice vintage instrument on your hands.  For us, there just isn't enough time to do everything.   Thanks for looking and happy buying!
