BENEFITS“ARMOR-TEK3®” Carcass Protection provides 50% more protection against impact damage than standard 2-ply tires.The inner tread ribs alternating 3-2 pattern provides a number of significant performance benefits like: reduced road noise, increased stability and handling, superior soft surface (trail) and mud traction.The “flex groove” provides a smoother ride by helping to dampen the impact generated by inconsistencies in pavement, potholes and gravel.The Discoverer STT PRO features large, specially-designed cleats of rubber (side biters) on the shoulder area of the sidewall, to enhance traction and grip.The asymmetrical scallops on alternating lugs direct mud into the mud scoops to allow the tire to pull through muddy terrains with ease. ARMOR-TEK3 CARCASS CONSTRUCTION Cooper's STT PRO It's the heavy duty carcass that makes the new STT PRO so special. In a normal 4WD tyre there are rubber gaps between the sidewall cords. The rubber gaps are the weakest point of the tyre. A nail, a stake or sharp outback grass can push against the sidewall cord, deflect off and penetrate through the weakest point, (the rubber) and you get a flat. What Cooper has done is reduce the rubber gaps by taking its outstanding 2 ply STT and added a third ply on an angle (as 8 degree angle). It's called Armor-Tek3 technology and it's unique to Cooper. While some other 4WD tyres have three plies, none of them have the Armor-Tek3 angle ply. Here are the other features of the new STT PRO most notably, modern developments in the deep sidewall lugs, tread block siping and cut, chip and tear resistant tread compound. SUPER TRACTION TREAD The new STT PROS computer-designed, non-directional tread employs a combination of features including deep sidewall lugs, notched and scalloped shoulder lugs, and a unique centre traction zone to create a bold, aggressive tyre for serious offroad applications. DEEP SIDEWALL LUGS The new STT PROS aggressive tread design extends far down the sidewall of the tyre to enhance its soft surface traction and also provide additional "bite" in rocky terrain as well as maximum protection from sidewall damage. CUT, CHIP AND TEAR RESISTANT TREAD COMPOUND The new STT PRO has a specially developed tread compound that helps resist the cutting, tearing and chunking commonly found in extended outback use. SCALLOPED SHOULDER LUGS The notched shoulder lugs of the new STT PRO are scalloped so that one section always has a clear shot at fresh ground for superb traction in soft surface terrain and additional gripping power in rocky terrain. TAPERED STONE EJECTOR An integral stone ejector rib extends down from the centre lugs to the sidewall blocks to help prevent stones and debris from lodging between the tread blocks while contributing to the protection from stones damaging the tyre's steel belts. RIM FLANGE PROTECTOR Placed in the lower sidewall area, this feature helps protect the wheel and tyre from rocks and brush.
