About Willy A. Kleinau (source: wikipedia):
Willy Adolf Kleinau (* 12. November 1907 in Mulhouse; † 18 October 1957 near Merseburg) was a German actor and director.
Life: Kleinau was trained by Louise Dumont in Düsseldorf until 1932. From 1932 he was mainly active in Meiningen, Konstanz, Potsdam and Wuppertal. After the Second World War he played in Bremen, Göttingen and Hamburg and from 1949 also in Berlin.
He played many great classical stage roles at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and at the Volksbühne. He embodied the mayor in The Revisor, the old Clausen in Before Sunset and the title character in Wolfgang Langhoff's Faust production 1949/50. He appeared in Shaw's Wife Warren's Trade (1950), Gorky's Yegor Bulychev (1952) and Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes (1957). He starred as the title character in Othello (1953) and Götz von Berlichingen (1955).
His film career began in 1949 and focused on DEFA productions. Just under a month before turning 50. Kleinau died in 1957 as a result of a car accident near Merseburg. His grave is in the Dorotheenstadt Cemetery in Berlin.
His written legacy is in the archive of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.[1]
