Item Description

GUILD D-35SB 1979 (1979)

Guild is famous as one of America's three major acoustic guitar manufacturers, along with Martin and Gibson.
With the rise of Taylor guitars and others, it feels like it has become a completely obscure manufacturer, but it is a traditional guitar manufacturer that supported the music scene from the 50's to the 80's.
This time in stock is the 79s D-35 from the heyday of the guild.
Unlike recent reissues, this is an attractive piece with a strong and bold sound!

Spruce TOP, mahogany SIDE & BACK, mahogany NECK, rosewood fingerboard & bridge, actual 43.3mm nut, 25.5 inch scale Guild Dreadnought body.
Original Guild is characterized by its thick bracing and heavy overall weight, which is why the original Guild sound, which is thick and powerful, is the best part of this era!

The sound is thick and powerful! It doesn't have the delicacy of a Martin sound, but it sounds manly and rugged.
However, it doesn't have the violent feel of a Gibson, and it has more sustain than a Gibson, so if you think Martin is too gentle and Gibson is too rough, it's not a slam-dunk sound. I think so! If you play it with a flat pick, you can enjoy a powerful and dynamic stroke sound, and if you play it with your fingers, you can get a straightforward and transparent sound that is typical of a Maho body.・I think this is a sound that can be used for all purposes, regardless of style or genre!

The condition of the instrument is that it has small scratches, signs of use, and signs of age. There are many small dents and scratches, but these are the kind of scratches that would normally appear if you use the guitar, so I don't think there are any areas that are particularly noticeable as it is a vintage guitar.
There are some crepe-like weather checks on the body, and there are some dents that are a little noticeable even from a distance, but although it feels dignified as a vintage item, those who are looking for a vintage item are concerned about these scratches. I don't think so.
Also, the crack along the PG line that is common with guilds of this era is located on the inside of the PG, next to the fingerboard and below the sound hole, but it has been repaired with good adhesive and a reinforcing cleat has been applied from the back. Therefore, there is no need to worry about strength.
You can see it on the surface if you look closely, so I don't think it's a cause for concern considering it's a vintage item.

The neck condition is good and straight, and the current string height is about 2.7mm on the 6th string and 2.0mm on the 1st string above the 12th fret, which is the best setting.
The saddle is no longer OK, but you can lower the string height by a few tenths of a millimeter.
The frets are showing some reduction overall, but even at the point where they have been reduced the most, about 60-70% of the original height remains, so there is no need to worry about the frets for the time being.

Please enjoy the Guild sound, which has a unique sound that is neither Gibson nor Martin!
