Vintage 1930's 'Reliable Dolls' Charlie McCarthy Composition Ventriloquist Dummy/ doll - Archie Andrews Made by the 'Reliable Doll' Company in Canada and modelled on the original dummy of Charlie McCarthy, maker marked to back of his head , his mouth opens and closes with the original draw string and finger hoop. The arms and head are made of composition in good vintage condition .He wears his original clothes   a black jacket and trousers and a white shirt front, Charlie is in good condition for his age. He measures 17  inches / 43cm long. His head and arms are made from composition and his body is fabric. He has a mouth that opens and shuts by way of a string mechanism which works perfectly. All his clothes are original and in good condition. He is a super looking doll with a great cheeky face and in such good condition for a doll that is about 80 years old. The Reliable Toy Company Limited of Toronto, Canada (1920-1991) had a long history of making quality dolls, though in their infancy they imported bisque doll heads from Germany, and used a body from a USA company and assembled these into their own dolls. From 1922-1955 they began producing their own composition dolls and are best known for their Canadian style Indians and Mounties.
