Kee-Chung (1912-20021),Gold Medal Winner of the
Marathon during the 1936 Olympic Games. He became the first ethnic Korean to win a
medal at the Olympic Games. He
was born in the Korean Peninsula, but he competed under the Japanese name Kitei Son as a member of the
Japanese delegation, because Korea was under Japanese rule at the time. Sohn set an Olympic
record of 2 hours 29 minutes 19.2 seconds This
postcard was sent on 11 August 1936 during the 1936 Olympic Games. The green and white 6 Pfennig German Olympic stamp is
still attached on its back. Cancel: BERLIN OLYMPIA-STADION XI OLYMPIADE 1936. This
postcard was published by the Reichssportverlag. The publisher’s code is 116. However
a crease on top right corner it does not affect the picture (see scan) and it
