Eytan of Eytan's Designs has over fifty years' experience designing, selling, buying, repairing, refashioning & appraising jewelry. In January, 2019 we started the slow but satisfying process of listing Eytan's inventory on-line so that he can semi-retire and focus more on custom designs. Please check back as we're listing new items every week -- all fine jewelry in a range of styles and all priced with an emphasis on fairness and realism!
This is a classic Art Nouveau design -- the serenely blank-faced lady in profile, forming a frame with her own luxurious hair. Eytan cast her in 14 karat gold and updated her a bit by giving her something nice to stare at: a 0.12 carat natural (i.e., earth-mined) brilliant cut diamond in a platinum bezel.
The diamond is from Eytan's lying-around-in-the-safe diamond stash and is not clean (Eytan thinks it's in the I clarity zone), but it's reasonably bright (color around I-J), it's a decent size, and it gets the job done. (And it doesn't add much to the price, also a good thing...)
The removable bead necklace is a nice combination of faceted 2.8mm blue tourmaline and reddish, brownish, goldish and clearish zircon. And no, we don't mean cubic zirconium. Zircon is a natural gemstone, much like spinel in that it (a) comes in a lot of different colors; (b) is beautiful and sparkly and has great gemstone properties; and, (c) is woefully underused in the United States. In the case of zircon, we're pretty sure its unfortunate mis-assocation with CZ is 85% of the problem.
The necklace is 17" long and has been professionally strung on silk with a 14 karat gold pearl clasp.
The pendant weighs 2.35 grams and the necklace (pendant + beads) weighs 10.34 grams.
Eytan marked the pendant "14K" and the pearl clasp is stamped "585" (for 14 karat gold).
