Nice Original 1959 Official Statehood Medal Hawaii MACO.  Bronze, approximately 63 mm (2-1/2 in.) diameter.  One side has the State Seal of Hawaii which depicts Kamehameha the Great as well as the Goddess of Liberty.  Below is an Hawaiian inscription: Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono (“The Life of the Land is Preserved by Righteousness”).  The other side of the medal depicts the islands of Hawaii with a leaping marlin.  Above is: The Aloha State and to the side enclosed by lei is Hawaii 50^th State August 21, 1959.  Struck by the Medallic Art Co.
