This auction is for a French Art Deco desk top inkwell and pen holder. This item is made with a beautiful and thick Macassar ebony base. The hand carved figure is of a tiger which is made of translucent and swirly amber color bakelite. The inkwell is lead crystal glass with a Macassar ebony lid.
Holder measures 9 3/4" by 5 1/4" deep and 3/4" thick. There is an horizontal metal band at the front. The bakelite figure is approx. 5 1/8" by 15/16" thick and 2 3/4" tal. The heavy and beveled inkwell is 1 7/8" square.
The holder weighs 971 grams. Please consider size and weight in shipping costs when bidding.
Overall condition is excellent. No chips or cracks to the bakelite. The wood base is in beautiful condition. No chips or cracks to the inkwell. There is a split in the lid which is mostly visible from the underside. Meta plate holding the inkwell shows corrosion. This is not distracting as the inkwell covers it well. Guaranteed bakelite and tested!
