A wonderful piece of historical memorabilia: The "Annette Kellermann Buckle. "Kellerman was an Australian professional swimmer, vaudeville star and film actress. She was the first woman to wear a one-piece bathing costume instead of the heavy woolen pantaloons and tops of the day, which often caused drownings. I believe she was once arrested for wearing the one piece. This item features a Kellerman swimming in the noted one-piece, wearing a red bathing cap. The back of the celluloid buckle is printed with "Annette Kellermann Buckle Patent Appl'd For.” While her actual name was spelled 'Kellermann' (two 'n'), she was generally known as ‘Kellerman.' It's a nifty little piece of swimming and celebrity history.
