USED Steinberger GR4 HSS Headless Electric Guitar 1990s Red

Hi I'm Chris (MD, Guitar Mania), and I want to thank you for viewing this product. Guitar Mania is a small family run tradition bricks n mortar shop with a front door, til, phone and real people, offering a very personal service ;o)
It's business, but it's personal, so your order really matters to me! Thank you!

Summary:
Only offered as a guitar version, the R series featured a traditional strat style hard maple body.  It was a more basic interpretation than the GM, and was finished with basic body colors (black, white, red, blue).  Also the omission of the body binding, fancy tops and custom colours helped keep the overall cost down.

By far the biggest departure was the tremolo.  The GR featured the newly designed R-Trem, Ned's first version of a common knife edge bridge (just like a Kahler, Floyd Rose, etc.).  This less complicated design eased the price of a major component.  This allowed the company to provide a quality graphite neck guitar yet still keep the prices down.

The R's were outfitted with mostly passive electronics.  And in yet another departure from the usual fare, Seymour Duncan passive pickups were standard.  They were almost entirely found in a 4 (hum-single-single) configuration: a standard sized humbucker near the bridge usually paired with two Hot Rails humbuckers.

More info:

Body Condition: 8/10 - Overall for the age of the guitar I would say it's in excellent condition, there are a few bumps here and there but nothing major at all or that has gone through the finish. The guitar is also showing some really cool lacquer checking too, no way affects the guitar but looks right for type considering it's around 30 years old. This can be found under the control knobs and a few lines on the back of the guitar.

Neck: 8/10 - Neck is in tip top shape, no dings or dumps to report in the back of the neck. It's a comfortable profile to play and being made from Graphite it's super stable. It's just a really cool instrument to own!

Hardware: 8/10 - All original hardware, the tailpiece and the tuners do show some very light tarnishing. Term arm is in the gig bag.

Electrics: 9/10
Sockets, pots and switches etc are wear and tear items. The electrics on this guitar have been tested and are in very good working order, but my standard disclaimer is it's a used guitar and one must expect SOME occasional electrical 'scratching' noise, crackling and popping when adjusting pots and switches. When we tested it, this guitar was working very very well.

Playability:
This guitar has been lovingly set up by Jon, one of the UK's most highly regarded and experienced guitar techs.
That doesn't mean this guitar is the best playing guitar ever, it just means that he has taken the time to set it up. Adjust the action, intonation etc so that it plays as well as can be expected and stays in tune as good as any guitar of this type does.
We all have differing styles and demands from our instruments. Some of us like fast n low actions for fretboard burning licks, others prefer a high n mightly action for show stopping windmills and downtuned heavy riffing and everything in between. No one set up suits all!
This specific guitar has been set up sympathetically for it's style so has a fairly low action, and minimal fret buzzing.

Case: Comes with the Steinberger padded gig bag, the guitar will be well boxed to ensure safe shipping too.

Priced with all of the above in mind but feel free to "make an offer".
