DATING TO THE EARLY EDWARDIAN ERA
FASHIONED OF A WHEAT EAR CLUNY LACE WITH MACHINE MADE FLORALS AND PEACOCK FEATHERS OF LACE OVER A WHITE MUSLIN.
THE TOP HAS THE SLEEVES FALLING LONG WITH A GARLAND OF LEAVES AT THE ELBOW WITH LACE RUNNING DOWN THE OUTER ARM AND A LARGE FULL LACE CUFF TRIMMED WITH LEAVES ON THE BOTTOM EDGE.
THE RERA HAS A WIDENING MUSLIN TAIL THAT IS TRIMMED IN CROCHET DANGLES ON EACH SIDE WITH LACE THROUGH THE CENTER WITH LACE AND PEACOCK FEATHER DETAIL ON THE BOTTOM EDGE.
CROCHET DANGLES TRIM EACH SIDE OF THE FRONT TOP WITH THE INNER TOP HAVING THE CLOSURES AND CLOSURES ATOP THE SHOULDER.
THE SKIRT IS COMPLETELY UNPICKED AROUND THE WAIST AND IS MISSING CLOSURES. HORIZONTAL LACE INSERTION IS ON EACH SIDE ON FRONT AND REAR.
I BELIEVE I HAVE THE SKIRT DISPLAYED INCORRECTLY AS I BELIEVE THE LACE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON EACH SIDE WITH THE FLORAL AND FEATHER DETAILING IN THE CENTER FRONT.
CONDITION: I WOULD REMOVE THE CLOSURES AS THEY ARE SHOWING RUST SPOTS AND HAND LAUNDER AS THERE ARE SEVERAL PINHEAD STAINS TO THE SKIRTING AND SOME STAINING ON THE INNER ARM OF ONE SLEEVE.
SEVERAL SMALL POINTS OF THE LACE NEED TO BE STITCHED BACK WITH SINGLE STITCHES HERE AND THERE. WHEN STUDIED, SOME OF THE EDGE DANGLES ARE ABSENT AND I PESONALLY WOULD EVEN THEM OUT TO RESOLVE.
RARE TO FIND SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SET IN SUCH UNUSUAL PEACOCK FEATHER LACE DETAILING.
