Being an account of the Strange Wooing pursued by Sieur Marcel de Saint-Pol, Marquis of Bardelys, and of the things that in the course of it befell him in Languedoc, in the year of the Rebellion.

Published in 1924 by Houghton Mifflin Company of Boston and New York. 286 pp. Duct Jacket art by George Giguere. Like so many very fine artists from the golden age of illustration, there is little documentation about George Giguere’s career.  He is listed as having flourished in New York from 1917 to 1953, and as having worked for, among others, The Saturday Evening Post, Boy’s Life, McClure’s, and The American Magazine.

Interestingly, dust jacket bears Grosset & Dunlap Publishers name. Dust jacket is tattered and in poor condition. Black cloth boards with red lettering on front cover and spine. Corners are bumped. Two small holes in rear joint. Marginalia on FFEP. FFEP and fly title leaf were stuck together along hinge. Pages 39-50 are creased. Stain on Page 240. Shelf cocked. Binding is tight. Pages otherwise clean.
