Over the next few weeks and months I will be putting up for auction a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums.
These will, in part, be some of my personal collection and in part, some items being sold for friends.
They will all be of excellent quality, some even better than that. They will include some UK 1st pressings, and if not they will be extremely early pressings. All matrix/mother/stamper combinations will be listed (so long as they are readable!) so you can tell exactly what you are bidding on. All gradings are given both visually and by play-grading, strictly to record collector guidelines.

So here we have one of Floyds early released titles. "Obscured by clouds".
UK very 1st pressing with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" text around the rim and A1 / B1 matrices.
This without doubt is the best first UK press copy I have ever listed for sale. The audio quality is seriously good and the whole package in quite outstanding condition.
This has been fully play-graded. Plays with almost total silence. I am very sure you would never find a copy that plays better than this. It is an absolute stunner.

When this was first released in 1972 with the matrix numbers A1 and B1, it was quite quickly withdrawn as the band felt the sound was a little too "bright" and there was a little sibilance noted here and there. It was removed from the record stores and quickly replaced with a re-engineered second pressing, or second variant of the first pressing. This had the matrix numbers A2 and B2. This is the most common pressing that is often (mistakenly) called a first pressing.
As far as I am concerned, the sound is anything but bright. I do admit there are odd traces of sibilance though, as if that matters greatly.
What does matter is the way in which this copy plays. It is superb all the way through. Plays with almost total silence and with great detail and musicality.

Included in the sale are a couple of additional items.
A handbill or flyer promoting the film "The Valley" which this album is the soundtrack of. This I believe to be a genuine piece from the very early 1970's. Very slightly age discoloured, but in super condition.
Also included is a brand new cork backed coaster depicting the album cover.

These are parts and gradings:-

  • So many of these flimsy covers are wrecked. This one is in exceptional condition. Very solid and only the tiniest hint of shelf-wear. The spine is perfect and fully readable. No damage worthy of mention and retains almost a new look. Graded as excellent plus (EX+).
Vinyl is in far better than great shape. No marks worthy of note. Just a couple of spindle marks per label. Supremely well cared for example. 135 grams in weight. Matrices are A1 / B1. Side one mother/stamper is 1 GR. Side two is 2 RO. A really early pressing and of course should sound great, and it does. Graded as visually excellent plus (Ex+).

PLAYGRADING:-
I am going to be so seriously picky here. The album is just so good that I feel I need to grade it very very accurately.
Side 1  starts with about 8 seconds of very slight surface noise which very quickly vanishes and the rest of the side plays perfectly.
Side 2  is faultless from start to finish.
I do not grade a used album any higher than Ex+. This grades Ex+

So all in all a really lovely copy and would grace any collection in my view.

All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send 1st class signed for postage with The Royal Mail. I only charge exactly what it costs me!

I accept returns if I am notified immediately upon you receiving the album. This has to be due to it being wrongly described. Not just for a change of mind. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this.

I will post overseas with the exception of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
Guidance for postage cost is as follows.
Within the Eu. Approximately £16 tracked and signed for.
Worldwide approximately £25 tracked and signed for.
If the postage works out to be less, I will refund the difference immediately.

Good luck if you decide to bid on this.
The winner WILL NOT be disappointed believe me.
