Up for bidding is this amazing bronze medallion designed by my Dad, Chester Young Martin, for the Society of Medalists' 50th Anniversary. The snail & galaxy is the obverse side & the words ''Five Decades-The Society of Medalists'' is on the reverse side...the small circle on the reverse side bears the inscription "Furthering An Ageless Art: 1930-1950".

This medallion is just under 3" wide and is 1/4" thick. I don't currently own a postal scale but this feels like it weighs about 8-10 oz. It's been kept in a small white box that has yellowed with time but is intact. My Mom has written "S.O.M. 50th" in pencil on the top right corner of the box.

I'm not a professional grader but I don't see any flaws on this medal.

My Dad died in March of 2022; he left behind so much artwork...mostly his own but also that of others. We are keeping the things that are the most personal to us but there's so much here we decided to pass some things on to other collectors.
