A vintage 20th century re-strike of an 18th century etching and hand colored from the original engraving plates on paper Dated March 1755, this etching is a portrait of a famous race horse, The Portraiture of Crab (Arabian Horse) Late the Property of the Right Hon. The Earl of Portmoret. Edition 1755-56. Richard Houston, the engraver, (1721-1775) did a number of similar horse portraits although he is better known for his human portraits. The image is done after a painting by James Seymour (1702-1752), who became famous for his equestrian art works.
Condition : excellent. Presented in a molded Wooden Frame with Gold Trim and Linen Matting.
