Philippine Island ATLAS DE FILIPINAS 1899/1900, P. Jose Algue, S.J., 30 Maps

Private copy.  This is one of the first atlases ever made of the Philippines. It was commissioned by the U.S. Treasury Department in 1899 and completed under the direction of a Spanish Jesuit priest, Jose Maria Algue in 1900.  The technical work was done wholly by Philippine draftsmen.  Hardcover book is 13" x 15".  Contains 30 maps which are 11 1/2" x 13 3/8".  Fantastic color lithograph maps.  There is a light crease line in the upper corner of some pages and an occasional small sign of use, but overall the maps are in amazing condition--especially for the age.  There is also an introduction to the atlas and an index.  I see a tiny missing corner piece and s smal tear at the bottom of a few pages Some age tanning.  Binding is solid.  The end papers have some soiling.  The covers have the surface wear seen in the photos. Book is complete and I will be glad to send photos of all the maps to anyone seriously interested in buying the book.  Individually the maps have sold for as much as $125 each.
