Ryanair calendar 2014: Sexy pictures of real-life cabin crew posing for charity

There was nothing plane about the Ryanair worker as they posed for the spectacular snaps to raise money - and temperatures

The airline’s CEO, Michael O’Leary has told Today FM in the UK that he plans to scrap the annual calendars, which raises money for charities.Last year, the cabin crew calendar had raised money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. In 2008, the airline’s calendar featured women in skimpy bikinis. One crew member was posing in the cockpit, and sucking on a lift jacket inflator tube, and another squeezing a soapy sponge on a runway.According to Mr O’Leary, the ideas for the calendars were brought up by staff members.

"I think it was a great idea by the cabin crew," he was reported as saying by AOL. "It genuinely did raise huge amounts of money for charity and we will struggle to replace it with something as good or as successful."

However, the calendars have created controversy for being ‘sexist’ and ‘demeaning’.

It has been confirmed by Mr O’Leary that the cabin-crew calendars have been scrapped in favour of Ryanair’s new family-friendly image.

Last December, a judge in Malaga, Spain, banned promotions for Ryanair’s calendar after an appeal made by a consumer group, ruling that the advertisements were discriminatory.

The UK’s Advertising Standards Agency has stated that the airline’s “sexually suggestive” advertisements were likely to cause “widespread offence”.

The airline’s spokesman said it is still finalizing its charity options for 2015.
