A ring fit for an Empress!

In 1796 Napoleon Bonaparte designed a crossover ring for his fiancée Josephine bearing a sapphire and a diamond that would represent both lovers, while highlighting the individuality of each and showing how they compliment each other.

This 'Toi et Moi' ring is in solid 15 carat gold, and dated to the mid-late Victorian period. Its tapered shoulders bear subtle scallop imprints leading to its superb crown-top twin head, each setting made individually for that stone, and with high basket underbezels, allowing light to flood in from below and enhance the stones' colour.

The diamond is a fabulously deep and characterful old mine-cut stone weighing at least 0.5ct, and the sapphire a gorgeous rich, dark cornflower blue and weighs around 0.75ct.

Weighing in at 2.3 grams, it's a size 7.75 resizable, and measures 10 mm total across the head. It's in lightly worn condition for its age, with an old sizing to the back of the band.
